Major and Graduation
Aerospace Engineering ~ May 2021
I strive to pass all my classes at IIT with A's and B's. However, I know education is not just about the grades received. What is more important is how education empowers individuals with knowledge and skills to change the world. It is also important to understand that education is not confined to the classroom. For this reason, I plan on getting involved in the Society of Automotive Engineers. Through this society, I hope to face difficult challenges that an engineer in the workplace might encounter. By facing said challenges, I aim to learn creative thinking and practical skills that are often not taught in the classroom. This experience will prepare me for success in a career after college. As a member of the Leadership Academy, I am dedicated to improving, expanding, and applying my leadership skills. I will strengthen my leadership skills by learning from my professors, veteran scholars, and by reflecting on my own strengths and weaknesses. I know I will be very busy throughout my college life, but it is highly important that I maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. To do this I will continue with my passion for playing classical guitar. I will also maintain contact with my family and friends, as well as build new friendships here at IIT.
I plan to work internships in the summers between my college years. Once I complete my bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, I hope that I will have the option to either continue my schooling and gain a master’s degree or go straight into the workforce. I hope to work in a company where I can apply the skills I learned in college towards bettering technology. I would like to work at NASA, Space-X, Lockheed Martin, or Boeing. However, this is not an exhaustive list. In any engineering career, I will be able to apply my leadership skills learned in the Leadership Academy to the workplace, where I will be working closely with many professionals of varying degrees and skills. Like everyone else, my long-term goal is to be happy and satisfied with the course of my life. In the long run, I hope to travel the world, earn enough money to support a family, enjoy my career, and live comfortably. I look forward to growing as an individual and continuing to learn throughout my life.
